My DJ History
I been Djing for about 6 years now, but I just started doing my own thing with my own
equipment in 2005. I worked at a Skating Rink in San Diego, California called Skate World
right on Linda Vista Rd. I was around 16 and I met DJ Monty which I believe is still the DJ
there showed me the ropes about entertaining people on the Mic and how to control the
crowd. Slowly build up the tempo and etc. Then from San Diego, I moved to Virginia were I
worked at another Skating Rink. (I rather not say which, but if you know me, then you know
where.) There I met DJ Roy, he basically showed me the ropes about the equipment and
how to blend beats, and work on my knowledge of music. The skating rinks helped with
Djing because real skaters like ol' skool music. Like "Jam On It", "Rock with You",
especially Flawda booty bass music, that gets the situation right on the skate floor.
What Type of DJ Are You?
At the moment I'm a straight party DJ. I'm good with the blends, stretching, and picking the
right songs to get the blood flowing. My verbal skill stay at the top of the game 24/7. You
would be amazed at how much a "Here we go", "Getcha ya hands up, getcha getcha hands
up", or any kinda chant you can think of can really get a party hyped up. I'm not a battle DJ
(At least here now) I mean being a party DJ is serious, but I believe a battle DJ is another
level. Blending and mixing sounds is one thing, but to battle DJ's basically create a song
on the spot.
How Did You Pick Your DJ Name?
My DJ name didn't come to me right away. I went through a couple, before I decided to pick
DJ 2Much. First it was DJ Marion, simple straight to the point, and because every other
local DJ I knew used there First name because that was how they introduce themselves.
But I wanted something cool and catchy, something when you heard it, you knew who I
was and you would remember the name. So I thought of DJ Lil' Conceded. The reason
why I thought about this one was, back in the day. Basically, my middle school and high
school career, and even sometimes now folks thought or said I looked conceded. They
said that it was the way I carried myself, it made it look like I was better than others. All I did
was keep to myself before really getting to know anyone. I even said that I was better or
higher then anyone. So I guess everyone that I was better then them, lol. I was gonna stick
to that name, but then I talked to my homie Ernest Robinson. He gave me so insight on the
way I really wanted to be looked as. I mean no one is really going to take Lil Conceded
seriously. Plus, he said that it didn't describe me at all, which it didn't. I'm not conceded,
just confident in certain areas. So I thought about it one more time and then one day like a
lighting bolt it hit me. "2much", now that's something at everyone really does say about me.
That I'm too much and I wanted to use it because most artist's names or close to there
stage name. Marion Edward Weatherington II aka 2Much, I get to keep the "M" and the "2"
in my name. The "M" and the "2" are important because of my name and my father's name.
Why Do You Like To DJ?
I guess it would be the energy from the crowd. I feel like I'm the brain of the party, the
people are the body, and the music is the heart and blood flowing. I have complete control
of these people, it's like have a superpower. I can make folks reminisce old times, think
about moments in their life. I can make people smile, laugh, cry, etc. But the best emotion
excitement. I can get folks so hyped it's not even funny.
If You Had To Make A Top 10 List, What Would Be The Songs From 10
to 1?
Now this junk is really hard for me to do. Because I'm a roller skater, there's really a grip of
songs that I can think of. I like dancing and moving so that's probably what most of the
songs would be. But I really couldn't put them in any real order.
10. Ludacris - What's Your Fantasy
